What are the best generative AI tools for business?
There is no useful answer until you define the job. A platform for building a customer application, an employee assistant and an AI feature inside a CRM solve different problems, even when their product pages use similar language.

The comparison below covers five enterprise generative AI tools from four vendors: Amazon Bedrock, Microsoft Foundry, Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Salesforce Agentforce. It draws on official product documentation, not an independent hands-on benchmark. Treat these as options to evaluate, not a performance ranking.

The five tools at a glance

  1. Amazon Bedrock: For custom generative AI applications on AWS.
  2. Microsoft Foundry: For custom AI development in Microsoft’s cloud ecosystem.
  3. Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform: For custom AI and agent development on Google Cloud.
  4. Microsoft 365 Copilot: For employee workflows within Microsoft 365.
  5. Salesforce Agentforce: For AI-assisted sales and service workflows in Salesforce.

How should a business choose a generative AI tool?

Choose a generative AI tool by matching its delivery model to the workflow: an assistant for employee tasks, an embedded product for work inside an existing system, or a cloud platform for a custom application. Then test data access, output quality, integrations, administration and total cost using representative business tasks.

Compare the category before the product

A cloud platform gives developers building blocks, but your team still has to build and run the application. A workplace assistant packages common tasks inside software employees already use. An embedded business tool starts closer to a specific process, such as handling customer cases, although its usefulness still depends on the underlying data and configuration.

These categories can coexist. A company may use a workplace assistant for internal productivity and build a separate customer-facing service. That does not require treating the same product as the answer to every requirement.

Tool or platform Category A sensible evaluation scenario Work around the tool Cost basis to examine
Amazon Bedrock Cloud development platform A custom application in an AWS environment Application code, retrieval, identity, integration and operation Selected model and additional capabilities
Microsoft Foundry Cloud development platform A custom AI application using Microsoft's development ecosystem Model selection, project configuration, data access and integration Model, deployment and service consumption
Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform Cloud development platform A custom application evaluating Google's model and development services Application design, authentication, data connection and evaluation Model and platform usage
Microsoft 365 Copilot Workplace assistant Employee work within eligible Microsoft 365 applications Information permissions, licensing, adoption and usage governance License eligibility and applicable usage charges
Salesforce Agentforce Embedded business and agent platform Service or sales workflows connected to Salesforce CRM data quality, configured actions and approval rules Applicable licenses, credits or consumption model

The scenarios are editorial suggestions, not vendor rankings. Each option should be tested against the same task if it enters your shortlist.

Amazon Bedrock: evaluate it for a custom AWS application

Amazon Bedrock provides access to foundation models and capabilities used to build GenAI applications. Its pricing varies by model and capability, so specifying the application is essential before comparing costs.

Evaluate it when you need a custom user experience, business-system integrations or application controls in an AWS environment. Ask the implementation team to demonstrate the entire request path: identity, permitted data, model invocation, output validation and any resulting action.

The procurement decision includes the engineering and support required around Bedrock. Model access alone is not a finished employee or customer product.

Microsoft Foundry: evaluate the development platform separately from Copilot

Microsoft announced in November 2025 that Azure AI Foundry is now Microsoft Foundry. It provides an environment for building AI applications and agents.

Consider it when the proposed application aligns with your Microsoft development and identity environment. Review the selected model, deployment type, available region and service configuration rather than assuming all options have identical data handling or capacity.

Use the Foundry pricing page to build an estimate for the actual configuration. Microsoft 365 Copilot is a separate buying decision with a different product scope and licensing model.

Google Cloud: follow the current platform documentation

Google has folded Vertex AI into Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, announced at Google Cloud Next in April 2026. Google’s current model documentation covers first-party, partner and open models, with access and deployment options that differ by model.

For an application being evaluated on Google Cloud, test model quality alongside the work needed to connect business data and operate the service. Preserve the exact product, model and deployment identifiers in your evaluation record, especially where an existing project still uses older Vertex AI terminology.

Refer to the current Google Cloud generative AI pricing, rather than a rate quoted for an older model or deployment.

Microsoft 365 Copilot: evaluate the employee workflow

Microsoft 365 Copilot is relevant when the task sits inside the Microsoft 365 work environment. Eligibility and included capabilities depend on the subscription and license.

Build a pilot around specific activities, such as reviewing a document or preparing a meeting follow-up. Measure the employee’s total time, including checking and correction. Review the underlying information permissions before broad deployment, and confirm what the selected plan includes.

A successful pilot establishes repeatable value for a defined user group. It should not simply count how many people tried the assistant once.

Salesforce Agentforce: evaluate the process and its permitted actions

Salesforce describes Agentforce as an AI agent platform connected to business workflows. Its commercial options include different license and consumption approaches.

Evaluate it using an actual service or sales process: which records it needs, which actions it may take and what happens when the request needs a person. Check whether the relevant data and system permissions already exist or require additional work.

Treat the proposed billing unit as part of the test. A comparison based only on a seat price may miss consumption charges or related product dependencies.

Run a comparison that reflects real work

Give each shortlisted option the same representative task set. Include ordinary requests, missing data, restricted information and the exceptions staff handle today. Keep a record of the configuration used, so the result can be reproduced.

Assess five questions:

  1. Quality: Did the tool complete the task correctly, with acceptable review effort?
  2. Data access: Could it use the required information without exposing restricted material?
  3. Integration: How much work was needed to connect the result to the next business step?
  4. Operation: Who manages changes, failures, access and user support?
  5. Economics: What did a successful task cost after licenses, usage, infrastructure and checking?

Agree which requirements are mandatory before assigning scores. A low price or strong writing quality cannot offset a failed access-control requirement.

Build, buy or combine both?

Buy when an existing product completes the workflow with acceptable integration and governance. Build on one of the generative AI platforms for business when the task requires a distinctive customer experience, specialized data access or business actions the product cannot provide. Combine approaches when employees need general assistance and customers need a separately controlled application.

Model choice is one part of that decision. Rapyder’s guide to generative AI model types explains the underlying categories, while its AWS GenAI services describe support for custom AWS delivery.

Rapyder’s relevance here comes from its documented AWS implementation work; it is not a claim that Rapyder delivers every product in the comparison. A technical scoping conversation can help you test a shortlist against one defined workflow and identify where custom engineering is still required.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

The best generative AI tool for a business depends on the workflow. Amazon Bedrock and Microsoft Foundry support custom development, while Microsoft 365 Copilot and Salesforce Agentforce address different packaged workflows. Choose the category first, then compare representative tasks, access requirements, integrations and total operating cost.

No. A cloud AI platform provides services for developing an application, while an employee assistant packages capabilities into a user-facing product. A platform normally requires application engineering and operations. An assistant deployment still requires licensing, information permissions, adoption planning and an assessment of workflow fit.

A business should not choose a generative AI model solely because it has the highest benchmark score. Use benchmarks to create a shortlist, then test actual business tasks. Compare the complete application, including accuracy with company data, response time, review effort, permissions and operating cost.

A business should compare generative AI pricing using cost per correctly completed task under consistent workload assumptions. Include licenses or consumption charges, implementation, retrieval, storage, integrations and human review. Confirm regional pricing, taxes and contract terms separately because a public list price is not a complete project estimate.

Business data should be uploaded only to AI products and configurations approved for that information. Review contractual terms, retention, processing locations, access controls and any model-training or service-improvement settings. The answer depends on the selected service and deployment configuration, not simply on the provider’s brand name.

A custom GenAI application is worth evaluating when a workflow requires specialized integrations, a distinctive interface or tightly controlled actions that available products cannot support. Compare the expected business benefit with development, integration, evaluation, security and ongoing ownership costs before committing to a custom build.
